SUMMERS PRIDE SAFARIS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

G E N E R A L :

Should I change foreign currency on entering the country?
Yes, we do recommend carrying some cash for porters and personal purchases. For the best rates, draw money from a local ATM using your debit/credit card. Make sure that your bank knows that you will be in South Africa and have them issue you a PIN so that you are able to use your card at an ATM. Credit cards are widely accepted.
How do I get to South Africa?
We have two international airports in South Africa: Johannesburg and Cape Town. Upon arriving at either airport, you will clear customs before taking a domestic flight to Port Elizabeth, which lasts approximately one hour and 40 minutes. Your professional hunter will meet you at the Port Elizabeth airport or your hotel and will drive you to our lodge.

What is the gratuity/ tipping policy at Summers Pride Safaris?
Although tip amounts are not mandatory they usually range from an average of 10% to 15% of the total hunt and are appreciated for staff motivation. You may not have as much contact with the lodge/camp personnel as you do with your hunting team, but they are still an important component of your hunting safari experience. These people should also be taken into consideration when tipping as they care for your day- to-day needs behind the scenes. The hunting and camp staff are a complete team, each doing their part to make your hunt great and stay enjoyable, however, some hunters may be inclined only to tip those whom they have had the most contact with (i.e. PH, trackers, driver) but it is a team effort in every way.
Our policy for tipping at Summers Pride is to only hand the tip to the Outfitter/Owner who will ensure that the tip is divided out to the correct staff and that all in our team receive consideration. The Outfitter has planned and organized your complete hunt. He is in the best position to share the tip correctly, motivate our staff, and ensure fairness and will include your PH and favorites at an advantaged percentage Tips may also be added to your hunt price on the settlement, at your request, for your convenience.
